Frieda Grafe (1934-2002), a film critic and author in Germany, argued for the importance of visual style in cinema. Despite being one of Germany's most important film critics, Grafe's work is rarely translated and remains unfamiliar to many outside of Europe.

For her exhibition Off Broadway, Nairy Baghramian invites Michaela W√ľnsch (visiting professor from the University of Potsdam, Germany) to discuss the writing of Grafe and its relation to props, fashion, and architecture.
